Dubai - Mobile Times yesterday launched the first of its kind Mobile Directory for Pocket PC devices in the UAE, a new software, which allows users to search for a list of T&R service companies and instantly tap the telephone number to make a call directly from the Pocket PC (phone edition) device.
Mobile Times consists of an in-built UAE Business Directory of 10,000 firms and organisations, emergency and utility numbers (like T&R service companies) under 450 industry categories (from hotels, airlines, shopping malls to restaurants, movies and others) with more than 1,000 brands.
The Pocket Directory has a dynamic search engine, which allows search by company or brand and also area-wise (in the UAE).
Unlike the conventional Yellow Pages and business directories, the database us updated on a regular basis and the users can download wirelessly via GPRS connection at any time and location.
According to Manoj Bhatia, managing director of Mobile Times, the directory will run in any Pocket PC mobile device with Pocket PC phone edition 2003 (i-mate, PDA2k, Jam, PDA2, Annextek, Qtek 2020, Asus, iPAQ and Axim) with minimum 20 MB memory space.
