The import of live split-hoof animals, their products and wastes from China, Taiwan and Lebanon have been banned in the UAE. The move follows outbreaks of foot and mouth disease in the countries.
The Minister of Environ-ment and Water, Dr Rashid Ahmed bin Fahd, issued a decree banning the importation yesterday following a report from the World Organisation for Animal Health. The ban will remain in force until further notice. Split-hoof animals include pigs and sheep.
