TUNISIAONLINENEWS-President Ben Ali conferred on Tuesday morning with Mr. Mohamed Ghannouchi, the Prime Minister who presented a report on his attendance at the meeting organized by the World Bank in Washington on the specific model of the Tunisian development and the approach adopted by the country to win the economic and social issues that stake.
The Prime Minister also informed President Ben Ali of the content of meetings he had with officials of the International Monetary Fund and the International Finance Corporation.
The Prime Minister forwarded to President Ben Ali's tribute to him given by these international financial institutions for further structural reforms introduced in Tunisia and the economic and social gains, and for its success in containing the impact of the international financial and economic crisis.
The Prime Minister also informed President Ben Ali of feelings of regard for the guidelines set to improve mobilization of domestic resources, develop the structure of the national economy and promote the cognitive and technological content, and increase job creation especially for graduates.
The heads of these institutions expressed for their part their willingness to support reforms and programs established for the purpose of reinforcing the attributes of sustainable development and deepen the integration of the Tunisian economy in the world economic space.
President Ben Ali recommended monitoring the strengthening of cooperation and partnership with these international institutions, to ensure optimum achievement of desired objectives.
On another level, President Ben Ali was interested in efforts to further promote foreign direct investment (FDI), giving instructions to raise awareness on the broader scale, the preferential treatment offered by Tunisia and sectoral studies available and wide prospects for attracting investment in several sectors with high added value, in addition to the extension of the potential and opportunities available in the inland regions in terms of the creation of new projects and the installation of foreign companies.
President Ben Ali ordered to organize an international conference for the presentation of major projects scheduled under the 12th Development Plan (2010-2014) and the polarization of external funding opportunities, through the consolidation of direct investment and equity.
President Ben Ali also instructed the Prime Minister to open the Euro-Mediterranean Conference of technological innovation, scheduled to be held on October 14, 2010.
Following the meeting, the Prime Minister announced that President Ben Ali decided the following partial cabinet reshuffle:
Zouheir M'dhaffer, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, in charge of the Civil Service and Administrative Development
Fouad Daghfous, Minister of State Domains and Land Affairs
Mohsen Laroui, Secretary of State to the Minister of Trade and Handicrafts, responsible for foreign trade
Abdelaziz Mougou, Secretary of State to the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, in charge of water resources and fisheries.
