RIYADH: Saudi Transport 2015, a premium transport exhibition in the Kingdom, opened at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center (RICEC) on Sunday.

The Riyadh exhibition company is hosting the mega transport event till June 3, with the support of Minister of Transport Abdullah Al-Muqbil.

The show features an extensive range of the latest products, equipment, technologies and services from the biggest regional and local, international industry players. It offers networking opportunities for industry leaders enabling them to prepare effective strategies and share international best practices in the transport industry.

According to the organizers, the show is poised to offer a great opportunity for decision makers, government authorities, participating companies, experts and investors to explore the latest initiatives and projects, prepare effective strategies and share international best practices in the transport industry.

A RICEC official at the exhibition said: "The premier transport show will feature a wide range of the latest products, services and solutions on various segments of the transport industry, including air freight, integrated transport techniques, rapid transport, land, sea and air transport, public transport systems, online data exchange, enterprise resource planning (ERP), e-services, free-zone services and equipment, and insurance."

Significantly, the Kingdom has made remarkable progress in the transport and railway industry with rapid development in high-speed railway and ongoing metro projects in Riyadh and Jeddah.

With the government awarding contracts worth billions for the design and construction of its rail and metro networks and with numerous business opportunities being created for the technology, rolling stock, construction and building materials sectors, this prestigious and timely event will serve as the meeting place for rail, metro line and urban transportation professionals in the Kingdom.

The scope for the planned transport projects and required investment are massive, which is estimated to be $45 billion.
