MUSCAT -- A training course on trade policies, organised by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with Islamic Development Bank and World Trade Organisation, began yesterday at the Muscat Safeer Continent Hotel. The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Mohsen bin Khamis al Balushi, Adviser at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Al Balushi said that organising the training course here comes as part of the initiatives taken to strengthen ties between the Sultanate and international organisations, besides benefiting from the services, technical assistance and training programmes provided by these organisations to improve knowledge of the aspects related to agreements.
Abdul Aziz Mohammed al Khulaibi, Director of the Co-operation Office at the Islamic Development Bank, said that the course aims at enhancing and activating Oman's participation at the multi-party trade system, as well as developing human resources and technical skills of the member states in a bid to enable them to participate effectively in the multi-party trade system. Samir Saif Alyazal, Chairman of the WTO's Training and Technical Cooperation Institute, said that the course will provide technical support and build capacities of the member states in trade. As many as 29 participants from the Sultanate, GCC and Arab states are taking part in the seminar.
