KUWAIT, March 10 (KUNA) --

1963 -- The Society of the South and Arabian Gulf was established with the aim of providing assistance for students from the south and the Gulf states who are studying in Kuwait. After the liberation of Kuwait in 1991. the name of the society was changed to be the Kuwaiti Society for Student Support.

1964 -- Syria's first ambassador to Kuwait presented his credentials to late Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.

1990 -- Draft law number 23 for the year 1990 was issued over the regulation of judiciary.

1996 -- Late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah inaugurates the Liberation Tower. The president of Finland was present at the ceremony. The Liberation Tower is the fifth highest in the world and the highest in the Middle East. It is 362 meters high and cost 50 million Kuwaiti dinars.

1996 -- Mohammed Ahmed Al-Ruwaih, passes away at the age of 98. Al-Ruwaih is considered a pioneer in promotion of reading in his time and is the first person who opened a bookstore in Kuwait to sell books and magazines.

2003 -- Kuwait opens a humanitarian operations center to assist the allies and international organizations in providing assistance to the Iraqi people.

2004 -- Then Prime Minister, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad lays the cornerstone for Saleel AL-Jahra project. The project's 450,000 square meters consists of chalets, apartments, swimming pools, green areas, museums, exhibitions, and malls.
