KUWAIT, Aug 3 (KUNA) --
1990 -- The ministerial council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) holds an emergency session in Cairo, during which it condemned the brutal Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and called on Iraq to withdraw unconditionally from Kuwait . It called on the Arab League to stand united adhering to the principles and spirit of the Arab League charter to end such an aggression, remove any impacts and preserve the territorial integrity of Kuwait.
1990 -- The Arab League denounces in an extraordinary session in Cairo the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. It called on Iraq to unconditionally withdraw at once. Some 14 countries approved the resolution on the condemnation, while Jordan, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Sudan, Mauritania and Yemen expressed their reservations. Libya did not take part in the meeting while Iraq was ruled out.
1998 -- The former Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Jasem Al-Oun appoints Dr. Nourya Al-Kharafi and Kantar Al-Joan as members of the board of directors of Al-Archie Co-operative Society, in the first-ever step of its kind to appoint Kuwaiti women in this sector.
