KUWAIT, July 1 (KUNA) --
1948 -- Publication of first issue of the monthly magazine, Kathma, the first to be released in Kuwait.
1961 -- H.H. the Amir, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, agrees to resort to the Kuwaiti-British agreement stipulating the latter comes to Kuwait's assistance upon request. This comes after reports about suspicious Iraqi military movements. British soldiers were then stationed on the Kuwaiti-Iraqi border.
1974 -- Decree-law number 15/74 is issued to establish the Public Authority for Housing Care.
1985 -- Kuwait opens an embassy in Prague.
1998 -- Kuwait joins the international cricket federation.
2001 -- Law number 44/2001 is issued over Kuwait's ratification of the joint GCC defense treaty.
2002 -- Bowling player Fadhil Al-Musawi grabs Kuwait's first silver medal in the sport in the Asian tournament in Hong Kong.
2003 -- Kuwait Airways launches first direct route between Kuwait and Salalah.
