KUWAIT, Aug 2 (KUNA)
1990 -- The Iraqi troops storm Kuwaiti territory, seize the palace of H.H. the Amir in a surprise early dawn attack. Ministry of Defense issues a statement demanding immediate halt of aggression and pullout of the invading troops. Iraq alleges that this aggression was in response to calls by the Kuwaiti people.
His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah tells the people that Kuwait is facing a brutal invasion by enemies of love and peace, and stresses the occupying forces must be fought back and kicked out of Kuwaiti territory.
The UN Security Council condemns by unanimous vote the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in an emergency meeting after calls by Kuwait and the US. Resolution no.
660 is issued by the Security Council and calls for pullout of all Iraqi forces to their pre August positions.Sheikh Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, 45, martyred. He was shot dead by the Iraqi invasion forces while defending Kuwaiti territory.
1998 -- Kuwait Disabled Fencing Team snatches gold medal, uncontested, in international competitions in Germany.
2001 -- State of Kuwait charged to administrative and financial monitoring for the years 2001-2004 by the Executive Council of the Arab Atomic Energy Authority.
