KUWAIT, Oct 31 (KUNA) --
1982 -- The State of Kuwait establishes diplomatic ties with the Republic of Djibouti.
1982 -- Law 58/82 ratifying the unified GCC Economic Agreement, signed in Riyadh on November 11th 1981, comes into effect.
1999 -- The suburb of Khaitan is torn by riots set off by a brawl between an Egyptian national and a Bengali expatriate. The two-day riots left substantial material damage.
2000 -- The State of Kuwait and the Republic of Congo sign an agreement for establishing diplomatic ties.
2001 -- Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) signs a KD 500 million bonds agreement with the Credit and Savings Bank to help solve the housing problem in Kuwait.
2004 -- Blackout shrouds most of Kuwait's areas in dark during Ramadan due to a technical malfunction in Al-Omariyah transfer power plant. Kuwait's electricity production capacity dropped to 25 percent as a result.
2006 -- Minister of Information Mohammad Al-Sanousi issues a ministerial order detailing the conditions to grant licenses to set up satellite channels, television or radio, and states all lease or sale of a license without ministry approval is null and void. The license is also revoked if broadcast does not start within two years.
