Abu Dhabi, Sep 23rd, 2008 (WAM): The Arabian Saluki Centre, Abu Dhabi, today announced that it will organise the Third Arabian Saluki Beauty Contest to be held during this years Abu Dhabi 2008 International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition.
The event to take place from October 8 to 11 in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) is sponsored by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Emirates Falconers' Club (EFC), and organised by the EFC with support from ADACH. The Arabian Saluki Beauty Contest gives Saluki owners an opportunity to showcase their precious hounds both smooth and feathered on an international show level. The contest will be judged by Sir Terence Clark, former Chairman of the British Saluki Club. Sir Terence Clark has a profound knowledge of the Middle Eastern culture and heritage and lifestyle. During his diplomatic career he lived many decades in Middle Eastern countries, said a statement. The Arabian Saluki Centre, established in 2002 by Hamad AlGhanem with the support of the Emirates Falconers Club, commits itself to both the preservation of the pure breed Arabian Saluki and the traditional way of the Arabian Hunting as an essential part of Cultural Heritage. Arabian Salukis are one of the worlds oldest breeds; history shows that they can be traced back almost 11,000 years. Originating from the Arabian Peninsula, these desert hounds, which are known for their exceptional stamina, intelligence and loyalty, were bred to assist man in chasing prey and catching it in the harsh desert climate.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2008.
