KUWAIT, Jan 15 (KUNA) -- Temperature reached three degrees below zero in desert areas early Tuesday.

The website of the meteorology department at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said minus three degrees Celsius was registered in Al-Shagaya and Al-Salmi west of Kuwait, Al-Abdeli in the north, and Warba and Boubyan islands.

Temperature reached minus one in Kuwait International Airport, it added.

The department said it is expected that the highest temperature Tuesday would be between 8 and 11 degrees Celsius on the desert and coastal areas and winds are expected to be mostly northwestern.

Cold weather, that began last Friday, will continue till next Friday that will be cloudy and might witness some rain fall.

The lowest temperature officially registered in Kuwait was minus four in January 1964, while minus six was unofficially registered in the same year.
