Muscat: Tebodin & Partner hosted the opening ceremony of its new office building in Sohar last week. André van Drunen, area director (Middle East) of Tebodin, together with managing director of Tebodin & Partner, Salim Al Kindy, 'cut the ribbon,' to inaugurate the Sohar office.

The new office building that can accommodate around 80-100 employees is located strategically near the Sohar Industrial Estate, Port and Free Zone.

It has all the facilities required to make it a state-of-the-art engineering office with full ICT connectivity to Tebodin's office in Muscat and the international Tebodin network, said a company release.

Tebodin, part of the engineering and services company Bilfinger, is an international engineering and consultancy company, operating with around 5,000 employees from 50 offices in 25 countries. The long-term presence in the Gulf region started in 1976, when Tebodin Middle East was founded in Abu Dhabi.

Ever since Tebodin & Partner opened its doors in Muscat in 2002, the company has been running successfully in the Sultanate. After securing its first engineering services contract in the Oman oil and gas sector, the office grew steadily.

Tebodin & Partner in Muscat is one of the largest Tebodin offices worldwide, employing around 900 professional engineers, designers, specialists, consultants and supporting staff.

In particular, the establishment and expansion of the Port of Sohar, the Free Zone, Sohar Refinery, Sohar Industrial Estate and related companies and authorities have the operations starting in the port city of Sohar a few years ago.

Diversification
With the new office building at the service road along the Sohar Buraimi highway, this office has been officially inaugurated.

"The rapid expansion and related developments in the Sultanate of Oman have triggered our drive to diversify our services from predominantly oil and gas related engineering to a more all-round technical service provider. Next to the oil and gas market in Oman, we are also rendering services to other market segments, like industrial buildings, infrastructure, environmental consultancy, metals, food & beverage, logistics, petrochemicals and  pharmaceuticals," said Salim Al Kindy.
