Dubai, Aug.23rd,2007 (WAM) -- The National Human Resource Developmentand Employment Authority (Tanmia) has formed partnership with the UnitedNations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) for creating job opportunitiesfor UAE Nationals.
Minister of Labour and Chairman of Tanmia Board of Trustees Dr AliBin Abdullah Al Ka'abi and Deputy Executive Director of United NationsOffice for Project Services (UNOPS) Vitaly Vanshelboim signed an agreementto this affect on Wednesday. The partnership will help Tanmia actively promote UNOPS' Junior Professional Officer (JPO) programme, an initiative that will enable UAENationals to acquire UN experience through UNOPS activities both centrallyand regionally. As per the agreement, 10 JPOs will be accommodated initially by offeringfour posts at the UNOPS corporate headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmarkand six in the Dubai office of UNOPS. The Dubai-based positions include Protocol Officer, Programme DevelopmentOfficer, Finance Reporting Officer, Project Support Officer and RapidResponse Officer, while the posts at the headquarters have to be finalised. The UNOPS will provide the identified JPOs with fixed-term contracts asper the programme modality and extend them all the benefits and immunitiesavailable as per host government agreements. The selected Emiratis willreceive on-the-job training in the relevant departments and learn UN andUNOPS specific procedures and practices. Further, the Dubai based staff will also engage in activities, identifiedin collaboration with Tanmia, in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) and programming. However, Tanmia officials expect that the partnership can be extendedto establish projects where Tanmia and UNOPS share a common goal, especiallyin areas such as environment protection and CSR as a whole. UNOPS is keen on utilising Tanmia's commitment to CSR to launch a campaignaimed at transforming the business culture in the UAE.
