DAMASCUS - Syrian armed forces on Wednesday celebrated the 62nd anniversary of Syrian Arab Army foundation. Different military units were decorated by the pictures of President Bashar al-Assad and by flags and placards which expressed the importance of this occasion.
On this occasion, Army officers delivered speeches about the brilliant history of the Syrian army which was founded on the 1st of August, saying "our soldiers have offered their souls and blood for the sake of the nation's dignity and freedom."
Syrian top officers referred to the latest developments in the region, stressing "the latest events have proved the correctness of the Syrian vision and made it more determined to resistance till the restoration of the occupied lands."
They called soldiers to promote trainings, performance and acquire the modern equipment in order to be ready for defense.
Meanwhile, Minister of Defense Hassan Turkmani , representing President Bashar al-Assad the General Leader of the Army and Armed Forces, visited the Martyrs' cemetery in Najha near Damascus.
General Turkmani, along with a number of Syrian senior officers, laid a wreath of flowers on the Martyrs' monument and read verses of the holy Quran for the souls of the Martyrs.
