Damascus International Fair(DIF) is hosting the International Exhibition for Computer & Communication Technologies(Hi-Tech) at its traditional fairgounds18-23 September 2003. ST had the opportunity to meet representatives of some Arab and foreign companies taking part in Hi-Tech expo, including those from: Australia, Belgium, China, Egypt, Europe, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Norway, Qatar, Saudi Arabia,m Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, USA, UK, and Syria. ‏
 
General Manager of Emitac, the business partner of the American IT hp Company, Ziad Qazaz, said: "Emitac is a regional company with branches all over the region. Engineer Ahmad Mahmoud said Olivetti was showing: Olivetti M 9523,M5523, and M 9523LC 1570M, 1770 M, DSM 22-772 NS and DSM 22-572 NS monitor line desktop line; Xtrema 351 M-V and 261 P portables; Netstrada 3800, 2700, 7700 7210R, NAS R6 and TM 7700R Server Line. ‏
 
Sales Manager of Alles Handel-all Trade, Yehya Khalili, said they were offering IT easy and free of charge access to the market for all buyers and sellers. ‏
 
Exhibitor at Informatic Technology Horizon said they were offering hi-tech solutions, including shipping programme; help programme; school management programme; Orange accounting; marketing management system; extensions monitoring programme; maintenance services. ‏
 
Exhibitor Mazen Shbieb at Berlitz stall said Berlitz offers all languages in one centre. Berlitz Group Programme has a long history of excellence and its method is the most natural way to learn.The Centre offers: English courses for adults; administrative correspondence; executive briefcase; professional programmes; foreign languages; study abroad; cross-cultural training; private instruction; group instruction. ‏
 
Sales Manager at Lexm Ark said they were showing Lexm Ark Z 53, a color jetprinter offering professional performance printing. ‏
 
Public Relations official at Bank & Investment Magazine, Samir Sweid, said the main topic of the monthly magazine is banking. In addition the Magazine publishes studies and articles on Arab economic issues, and hi-tech business. The magazine is sold in all Arab countries. ‏
 
Top Tech Computers, Accessories and Networks Company was making good computers offers on: main board, CPU, Memory, hard disc, FDD, VGA card, keyboard, mouse, case, CD Rom. sound card, and speaker. ‏
 
Sales Manager at Kayal Trading Company, Zuheir Qatantin, said they were showing a catalogue on all the world magazines they have on Fashion, Fabric & Trend, Jewellery, Decoration, Fairs & Index, and Leather. ‏
 
Sendo was showing its S300 and M550 mobile phones. Handspring was showing its incredibly compact communicator that combines everything you need to stay connected, organised and in-touch no matter where you are. It was also showing Visor: edge, prism, pro, and neo. ‏
 
Bechara T & C was showing Palm Handheld Zire 71, M 130, Tungsten W handheld computer and GSM, Tungsten T, and Tungsten C. ‏
 
Stand of The Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce was offering business opportunities, future services, electronic trade directory, laser CD-Rom, and trade info through Internet. ‏
 
The Executive Manager of Islam Web Net, Fahid Salman al-Hajri, said that the Qatari website is supervised by the Qatari Awqaf Ministry. It comprises 90 staff from different Arab countries. The Website offers: Islam as you need to know it; Hadith encyclopaedia; Fatwa(Islam Rulings); news round the clock; audio materials and Quran recitation; statistics about Islam. ‏
 
Sales Manager at SBS Computer Training Centre, Medlda Arabi, said SBS keeps you inform of the latest IT development and IT teaching curricula. It offers office application, graphics and animations, SBS special courses, and web development and publishing. ‏
 
Also taking part in the Hi-Tech expo was the bimonthly Digitals Magazine. ‏
 
Al Rasheed for Computers & Industry was showing accountancy and storage programme, Life of Prophet Mohammad Series, and Learn with Tamer Programme. ‏
 
Of course there were other prominent Arab and foreign IT companies taking part in the Hi-Tech Exhibition. ‏
