DAMASCUS, (SANA) - Syria and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on Thursday signed 5 cooperation documents in the fields of customs, communications, fairs, ports and information services and the protocol of the session.

Concluding the 7th session of the Syrian-Korean Joint Committee, Information Minister Dr. Adnan Mahmoud said this session shifted cooperation to a new stage through signing these agreements, pointing out to the necessity of overcoming the far distance between the two countries and finding new mechanisms to link their ports to increase the volume of trade exchange.

Minister Mahmoud stressed the importance of cooperation in the field of media to convey the events in Syria.

For his part, Korean Minister of Foreign Trade, Ri Ryong Nam, said the discussions were serious and deep, stressing the importance of agreements and their effect on developing economic cooperation between the two countries.

He added that he saw the people, the army, and the leadership of Syria united in face of the conspiracy and plots targeting the homeland, stressing his county's support to the measures taken by the Syrian government to restore stability and security.
