The Higher Education Admission Center (HEAC) under the Ministry of Higher Education has announced that students applying for the general education diploma certificate can modify their choice of programmes for the academic year 2012 - 2013, through the e-admission system on their website. Changes can be made between July 17-30.
"During this time, students will be able to modify the options they chose during the first stage of registration, which was held between April 1 and June 1, this year. They can choose those courses in the e-list, for which they fulfil the requirements set by the institutions of higher educations," MoHE official said.
According to the HEAC, this will be the last opportunity for the students to modify and rearrange their study programmes. This will be the final application of admission for the programmes announced. "The students have to carefully and accurately review their applications, confirm their choices and complete the registration procedures within the given deadline," the official said.
Even for students whose results are expected or those who sat for the exam in the second round, this will be the last opportunity to change their choices. Students have been advised to submit applications without waiting for their results.
All information related to registration,
admission, deadlines and any developments in the procedure will be available on the HEAC website. Parents and students have also been asked to follow-up on ads in local newspapers for latest developments in this matter. The MOHE official further said that the new, amended and cancelled programmes will be announced in the local newspapers on Tuesday, July 17.
PROCEDURE TO MODIFY APPLICATIONS
- Log onto www.heac.gov.om and review personal data and grades. uTo check programme eligibility, access the link 'Programmes with fulfilled requirements' to extract a report of academic course.
- Access the link 'List of government programmes and scholarships' and select among 40 choices and click 'save' before continuing. This will lead to an online form.
- In the application form, programmes chosen in the first round of registration will be available for modification.
- Select desired disciplines, whose requirements are being fulfilled and arrange them in order of preference.
- Ensure that the final list doesn't consist of programmes, whose requirements are not met.
- Click on the 'save' button after the amendments are made.
