MUSCAT -- Registration of students at Sohar University is continuing. Students from all over Oman and various other countries have chosen Sohar University as their ladder of success for their professional studies. Maryam al Balushi has just graduated from Um Salma school and looking forward to getting admission in Sohar University.

Ahmed al Ajmi from Al Rustaq said, "Sohar University is the first private University in Oman, it was my first choice and I cannot wait to start my first semester here." More to add, Yearsharif Gakwisiri from Bujumura, Burundi, Africa said, "I have taken admission in engineering faculty as I'm very impressed by the hi-tech state-of-the-art infrastructure of the university. I know I have taken the right decision by joining Sohar University. The registration in Sohar University will continue until the end of September."

Sohar University is the first private university in the Sultanate of Oman. It has an academic affiliation agreement with University of Queensland (UQ), Australia, which is one of the top ranking universities worldwide. UQ was established in 1910 and is regarded as an important international centre of scientific research and one of the top two universities in Australia for PhD degrees.

The majority of courses in SU are delivered in English. Most of the faculty members are English native speakers and holder of PhD and MA degrees. Presently, the University has four major faculties namely: Faculty of Business, Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The Faculties offer three awards -- Diploma (2 years), Advanced Diploma (3 years) and Bachelor (4 years). Masters is offered in Education Administration and Curriculum and Teaching Methods. In the future, Master of Business Administration (MBA) will be offered also in the University.
