The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) 2004 is organising special events to mark Eid Al Adha that will take place on Al Seef and Al Riqqa streets and several other locations. These events will include special carnivals, entertainment shows, competitions and musical shows.
The celebrations on Al Seef Street during the holidays will be sponsored by the Department of Health and Medical Services. The largest of the celebrations on the street will start at 5pm on Sunday where they will prepare traditional sweets for Eid.
These sweets will be sold at reasonable prices and the proceeds will be donated to charity. Different kinds of biryani will be made, and women can chose to get their hands coloured with different henna patterns.
At 5:30pm, 50 beautifully decorated dhows will line the Creek. On Al Seef Street, the prices for participating in the various games will be discounted. Moreover, the proceeds will be donated to charity. Children will receive Eid gifts as well.
Watershows, fireworks and the carnivals will be a permanent feature during the Eid holidays. Lights, balloons, a big greeting card made with balloons and rangoli shows will start the Eid celebrations.
The Night Souq will feature additional discounts for Eid.
The Emirates Channel Stage Activities will also line up special programmes for visitors.
On Al Muraqqabat Street, the celebrations will continue in a similar spirit. Dinosaur World will open its doors at 5pm, the Police Academy Stunt Show, the Yamaha Motorbikes Zone, the Buggyra Super Truck Zone and others will open at the regular time, 5pm.
The Global Village will open its gates to everybody on Saturday, Sunday and Monday on the occasion of Eid. Tuesday will be for families only, and on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday it will again be open to all. Participating pavilions will open from 4pm to 1am and folkloric groups will display their talents.
The Global Village Fun Fair will feature a separate workshop area for kids that can be accessed for Dh15 per child. Special drawing materials will be given to the children in this area.
