Dubai: Hosts UAE were soaring above some of the stronger nations at the end of the opening day of the Fourth Dubai International Parachuting Championship (DIPC) that got under way at Skydive Dubai on Friday.
After two rounds of jumps, the host nation has taken the lead in the eight-way Formation Skydiving (FS) with 32 points followed by Monaco (31) and Russia (30) in second and third respectively.
The UAE is also leading France (48 points) and Poland (18) in the four-way Vertical Formation Skydiving (VFS) with 55 points, while it is third in the four-way female FS competition with 27 points behind leaders France (37) and Norway (32).
The home side that is fielding a total of 37 jumpers in this competition is in fifth place overall in the four-way open FS and Freestyle Skydiving, while slipping into second place behind leaders France in the four-way rotation after the opening round held on Friday.
The competition will continue daily at the Skydive Dubai site on the tip of The Palm Jumeirah until December 9.
