Amman - Jordan and South Korea discussed plans to establish a telemetering system for water quality management with a total budget of $3 million funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

Secretary General of the Water Authority, Tawfiq Al-Habashneh, said in a press release on Monday that the project seeks to apply the international standards for drinking water, and that requires permanent control of a number of water sources.

He stressed that the Authority's laboratories directorate applies the highest standards to ensure strict and periodic supervision, carrying out all types of water tests, including checking its chemical and bacteriological composition.

The project includes three telemetering stations in the city of Salt, Kherbet Samra and at the Zaatari Pumping Station as well as training 45 specialized technicians over a period of three years.

KOICA's chief representative in Jordan, Han Young-tae, stressed the Agency's support for the water projects in the Kingdom, hailing the role of the Jordanian management in this field.
