These are the first images of the inside of Dubai’s new indoor ski slope.

For months, the unique project has looked like a giant steel tube in the middle of the desert.

But despite the fact the doors are not due to open for another three weeks, Gulf News can provide you with a sneak preview at the city’s first winter wonderland.

These impressive images, which have been computer generated, show what the slopes will look like when the ribbon is finally cut and doors thrown open for business.

Ski lifts, children’s play areas and authentic-looking log cabins are just some of the graphics which can be seen - not to mention the people taking to the snow.

The images were produced to give a sneak preview before the opening of Ski Dubai, a unique concept in extreme sports and a first for this part of the world.

Chiefs at the centre say the slopes should be opening for business in approximately three weeks and say they are overwhelmed by the amount of interest surrounding the project.

Ski Dubai is situated at the Mall of the Emirates on Shaikh Zayed Road at interchange No. 4 and has its own dedicated overpass to ease traffic congestion.

It has been conceptualised, built and managed by MAF Investments and promises to continue Dubai’s tradition of keeping the city well and truly on the map.

A spokesman for Ski Dubai said: “With the construction of Ski Dubai we are achieving a goal that is unprecedented in this market.

“In less than two years since MAF Investments started construction, Ski Dubai will open its doors to the public. We are proud of the work of the project team.

“Now that construction is complete, we are cooling down the inside of the building to decrease the temperature from 40C to -8C. Once cool, the second step is the actual making of the snow followed by testing.

“We are now fully staffed at Ski Dubai, including a team of 25 eager ski instructors. In addition, our top of the range ski equipment is here and ready to be used by all who visit.

“The project is now more exciting than ever. We aim to open Ski Dubai in approximately one month, as soon as the cooling down, snowmaking and testing phases are completed.”
