With reference to its announcement in Tadawul website on 18/06/2013 regarding starting of construction of Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT) project of Sipchem Chemicals Company (a Sipchem affiliate) in Jubail Industrial City, Saudi International petrochemical company (Sipchem) announces the last developments on the project.
The project achievements in construction have reached 77%. It is expected to commence initial strt-up during the fourth quarter of 2014. Commercial operation, financial impact and any other updates will be announced on a later stage.
It is worth-mentioning that the plant will produce Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) with of a total production capacity of (63,000 ton) per year, and total construction cost of SR 600 million, financed by partners, SIDF and other banks. PBT resin is a highly specialized thermoplastic polymer used in manufacturing compounds in the automotive, the electrical, electronics and IT material industries and in the field of polymers production and plastic engineering. Moreover, using Butanediol that is produced by the International Diol Company (a Sipchem affiliate) as raw material for producing Polybutylene terephthalate that will enable Sipchem to utilize the rest of integrated products and strengthen value added chain.
