A student of Emirates National School (ENS), Sharjah, took the top rank in the UAE at the Central Board of Secondary School Examination (CBSE) Grade X scoring 96.6 per cent.
But barring that small change in the script, it is the same old story played out with monotonous regularity the girls have outshone the boys by cornering most of the top ranks.
In the Gulf 7,857 students appeared for the exam with 7,334 students passing registering a 93.34 pass percentage. About 45 per cent of them scored distinction, an aggregate of 75 per cent and more.
Vaishakh Muralidharan of ENS, the top rank holder in the UAE, said: "When I saw my marks on the Internet at about 5am I was thrilled. I immediately called my class teacher and conveyed the news. The whole school is thrilled. My parents of course are very happy with my achievement."
Muralidharan, who plans to chalk out a career in medicine, gave credit for his outstanding performance to his teachers, parents, friends and God.
"I plan to keep up the good work and study hard. I want my parents and my school to be proud of me."
Indian High School, DubaiThe school recorded cent per cent result with all 500 students passing the exam. The top ranks of the school went to Abhayanka Visvanathan (94 per cent), Prakriti Mahindra (93.8 per cent) and Sonal Suresh Shetkar (93.2 per cent).
Indian School, Al AinThe top rank holders are Jijin John (94 per cent) followed by Hanan Showkath, H.K. Jubaira and Pooja Mohanraj (92 per cent) and Richa Zara Nizar (91.8 percent).
New Indian Model School, Dubai Seventy-three students took the exam with Nimmy George (91 per cent) taking the top slot, followed by Aisha Mehnaz B. Gulzad and Minu Sanjeev Kumar (90.2 per cent) and P.S. Sreesanth (89.8 per cent).
The Central School, DubaiThirty-eight students sat for the exams with Zakiya Kanitha scoring 90.2 per cent to take the first rank followed by Azra Sardar (86.4 per cent) and Usama (85 per cent).
Gulf Indian High School, DubaiThe top ranks of the school went to Balasubramaniam Bharathwaj (92 per cent), Sandra Paulson (85.4 per cent) and Alpha Rajan (82.8 per cent).
Our Own English High School, DubaiA record number of 560 students took the exam from here this year with 46 per cent of the students obtaining distinction. The ranks went to Amanpreet Kaur (93.4 per cent), Y. Devika and Nigel Sadanadan (both 93.2 per cent), Raghav Ravi Chandran and Ramachandran Chidambaram (both 92 per cent).
The Millennium School, DubaiShilpa Menon took the top spot with 91.4 per cent.
Emirates English Speaking School, DubaiOut of the 56 students who sat for the examination 28 were placed in the first division or more. The ranks went to Jay Prakash Vimal Prakash (82.4 per cent), Joel Aaron Pereira (77.8 per cent) and Anil David Ramakrishnan (77.4 per cent).
Delhi Private School, SharjahThe school got 100 per cent pass result with 70 per cent of them getting distinction. The top ranks went to Athena Mariam Alex (90.4 per cent), Krithika Balu (89.6 per cent) and Shreyas Narsipur (89 per cent).
Emirates National School, Sharjah The top three ranks went to Vaishakh Muralidharan (96.6 per cent), Rahul Zachariahs Mannala (94.2 per cent) and Ashok Narayan (94 per cent).
Sharjah Indian SchoolA total of 289 candidates appeared for the exam. The ranks went to Ashrin Shabbir (94 per cent), Jisha Jacob (93 per cent) and Jency Mary John (92.6 per cent).
Progressive English School, SharjahOf the 45 students who appeared this year nine of them got distinction. The top ranks of the school went to Nimisha Raveendran (88 per cent), Elssa Baby Geevarghese (86.2 per cent).
Our Own English High School, SharjahA total of 154 students sat for the exam with the top ranks going to Nidhi Elsa Cherian (91 per cent), Indu Sreekumar Nair (90.6 per cent) and Kirthi Sampath Kumar and Harishankar Unnikrishnan (both 90.4 per cent).
The New Indian Model School SharjahSayed Ahmed stood first with 83 per cent, while Fayas Ahmed came second with 79.6 per cent.
Sunrise English Private School, Abu DhabiOf the 45 students who appeared 36 per cent secured distinction. The top ranks went to Aiswarya Sreekumar (94 per cent), Anju Arvindakshan (93 per cent) and Siraj Nellur Ahamed Kutty (90.6 per cent).
Wisdom High School, Abu DhabiThe top positions went to Michelle P. Constantine (86.4 per cent), Tanaya S (85 per cent) and Karthika (84 per cent).
Global English School, Al AinThe top positions went to Afra Nadersha (89 per cent), Mohammed Idhrees (88.8 per cent) and Shruti Gjanan Saudagar (87.8 per cent).
Al Ain Juniors SchoolOut of 21 students appeared for the examination, Roshan Nazirudeen topped with 91.6 per cent followed by Sherin Sara Jose (91 per cent) and Ahmed Siraj Alam (89.6 per cent)
Our Own English High School, Al AinThe school secured cent per cent pass results. The top rank holders were Manju Sara Oomen (92.6 per cent), Aneesh Ajayan (92 per cent) and Rizni Mansoor (91.4 per cent).
Our Own English High School, FujairahOver 60 per cent of the candidates secured an aggregate of 75 per cent and above with the top ranks going to Meghna George (93.4 per cent), Reshma Susan Babu (92 per cent) and Neeraj P. Ravidran and Karan Gupta (both 91.4 per cent).
Modern Indian School, FujairahThe school got 100 per cent pass results. Amrita Das Gupta topped the school with 81.8 per cent. followed by Shabistan Jameel with 76.8 per cent.
Scholars Indian School, Ras Al KahimahThree students got distinction and three are placed in the first division. Among boys Ujjual Babu Raj stands first with 86.8 per cent and among girls Reshma Namburimadam took the first place with 78 per cent.
Indian Public High School, RAKOut of 48 students, 15 achieved distinction with the top ranks going to Reema Mohammed and Jinu Anna John (both 90.6 per cent), followed by Bijna Mohanbabu (87.4 per cent) and Ajith Vijayan (86.8 per cent).
Indian school, RAKThe top positions went to Prathibha Saseedharan (93.6 per cent), Madonna William (92 per cent) and Maria George (91.4 per cent).
Asian International School, RuwaisThe school has cent per cent pass results with 70 per cent securing distinction. The ranks went to Kashpia Asma (91.4 per cent), Periyagaram Shridhar Srihari (89.8 per cent) and Mohsina Basheer (89.6 per cent).
Ajman Intermediate English SchoolFatima Abbas got the first rank, Aysha Suhai Ahmad took the second rank and Sunjo Sunny got the third rank.
Indian School, AjmanOf the 49 students who appeared, 16 scored distinction. The top ranks went to Krishna Harshan (92 per cent), Lekshmi Radhakrishnan (89.2 per cent) and Jijith Babu (85.8 per cent).
