Sharjah, Dec 25th, 2010 (WAM) -- HH Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah offered Prayer for Rain (Salat-al-Istisqa) at the Al-Badie prayer grounds this morning.
The prayer invoking God Almighty in supplication for rains descending on earth is performed as per the tradition of Prophet Mohammed, Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him. A number of Sheikhs, senior officials and a large number of worshipers including citizens and residents also joined the Ruler in the rain prayers. The prayer was offered today across the country in line with the directives of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Hon. Sheikh Abdullah Mohammed Al-Hamadi led the prayers, after which he gave a sermon calling on the people deepen their faith in God and ask for forgiveness for any sins.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2010.
