Sharjah, Nov.12th,2007 (WAM) -- Sheikh Abdullah bin Salim Al Qasimi, Chief of Sharjah Emiri Court, opened last night the Algerian cultural weekat Qanat Al Qasba in the presence of Algerian Minister of Culture Khalida Al Toumi.
Many activities including a plastic art exhibition were lined up. Sheikh Abdullah and the Algerian minister toured various boothsand exhibitions for paintings, books, jewelry, handicrafts and ceramics. Sheikh Abdullah said the week-long event aims at introducing the Algerian culture, arts and heritage to the UAE community.''The event provides an excellent opportunity for further strengthening cultural interaction between the two brotherly countries, he added.
The Algerian minister praised H.H. Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah for his support and care for culture and heritage. She affirmed the event seeks to boost bonds of fraternity and friendship between the peoples of UAE and Algeria. Folklore dances and musical performances were staged during the opening ceremony.
