Duwaisan refutes reports on plan to grill PM

KUWAIT CITY: MP Nawaf Al-Fezai revealed that several rebellious plots are being devised against the Kuwaiti regime, indicating that some troublemakers are trying to manipulate with the monarchy by receiving financial and material support to control the country from abroad, reports Al-Shahed weekly.

In an interview with the newspaper, MP Al-Fezai said he was frustrated after he joined the National Assembly because of the government's improper practices, indicating that the honeymoon of the two authorities ended quickly because of some inefficient ministers.

He stressed that he will grill any minister responsible for the ministry of finance until the loan issue is resolved, adding that corruption is widespread in various governmental offices.

He said the opposition is not honest, as its members seek to achieve corruption and dominate the joints of the country, stressing that he will firmly confront such attempts.

He pointed out that the members of the current Parliament managed to achieve a number of significant laws within the 50 days of its lifespan, while previous lawmakers spent years tackling and eventually escalating sectarian and tribal issues and interpellations without achieving anything.

Meanwhile, MP Ali Al-Omair has asked the government to comply with the internal bylaw of the Parliament on the postponement of discussions on the grilling request against the oil and finance ministers, reports Al-Jarida daily.

In a recent press statement, Al-Omair pointed out the two-week postponement is not enough as they need more time to collect information related to the grilling points.  He said the government has the right to ask for suspension of grilling request discussions for more than 15 days and the Parliament will assess the reason for this delay if it is valid or not.

Al-Omair hopes Oil Minister Hani Hussein can specify the actual period for him to provide satisfactory answers to the grilling points.  He added the loans write-off proposal, one of the points of the interpellation request against the minister of finance, is a good way to determine if the incumbent Parliament succumbs to pressure or not.

In the meantime, MP Faisal Al-Duwaisan has refuted reports which say he intends to grill HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, reports Al-Wasat daily. In a statement the parliamentarian said, "I do not intend to grill HH the Prime Minister, but I want to remind our colleagues that I'm eagerly waiting for the historical moment when the Parliament will not grill any member of the executive body."
