The Saudi Electricity Co. has recently approved allocation of SR 102.4 million for the implementation of 3 electric power projects in Jeddah, within the framework of its efforts to meet the rising demand for electric power and to provide the best services to its subscribers.
The Acting Executive President of the Saudi Electricity Co., Tariq Bin Abdul Rahman Al Butairi stated that the company has recently signed 3 contracts with ABB Contracting Co. Ltd. (P. O. Box 91926 Riyadh 11643, Tel. 265 0090, Fax. 498 2077). The combined cost of the 3 contracts comes to SR 102.4 million and they are aimed at building 3 transformer stations in Jeddah, at locations of Al Rabwah, Al Naeem and Kilo-8. The new stations will boost the power transmission capacity in the city. The transformer stations will come on stream sometime in 2006, he added.
Al Butairi further detailed that the 3 new stations will be linked with the main grid and would cover the rising power requirements of the city, particularly of the neighborhoods of Al Rabwah, Al Naeem and Kilo-8.
