CAIRO--The vice president for exploration at state oil giant Saudi Arabian Oil Co., or Saudi Aramco, Abdullah al-Naim died Tuesday during a visit to a drilling site in the northwestern city of Tabuk, a person familiar with the matter said Wednesday.
Mr. Naim, who joined Aramco in 1978, died of natural causes in the al-Haql area, 225 kilometers northwest of Tabuk, the source told Dow Jones Newswires.
He was on an official visit to the field, accompanying the kingdom's oil minister and Aramco's chief executive.
The visit was canceled after Mr. al-Naim's death.
Officials at Aramco were not available for comment when contacted by Dow Jones Newswires.
