JEDDAH  - Saudi Telecommunications Company (STC) launched Saturday a free offer to double the subscription period of their Internet cards for service provider Saudinet.

Saad Bin Dhafer Al-Qahtani of STC explained that clients who buy their Internet cards within the next 30 days will get an additional month of Internet service for free.

"And if the client buys a 3-month Internet card, then he gets three additional months. This is the best offer in the Saudi market right now," he said.

The free offer is for the three speeds namely the 256 kilobits per sec, 512 kilobits per sec, and 1 Megabit per second. Clients who recharge their cards can also benefit from this offer provided the recharge card is used during the offer period.

Al-Qahtani said that STC decided to offer the public this promotion because the Afaq DSL service has witnessed tremendous development in the market.

The service witnessed a record rise in the number of clients, reaching 600,000 by the end of 2007.

Compared to 2005, the number of clients this year increased 11-folds, he said.

Al-Jazirah Arabic daily reported that Al Jawal has launched the video mail service.

The service enables clients to record video welcome messages for callers, communicate through video phone calls, and receive and see messages in his video mail box in case there is no reply or he is out of the coverage area.
