RIYADH, 25 June 2006 -- The Saudi Telecom Co. has slashed the price of the Sawa SIM card by half from SR200 to SR100 and the international SMS charges by 25 percent from the present 60 halalas to 45 halalas, according to STC President Saud Al-Daweesh.

The telephone giant has also launched a new mobile plan called Jawwal 25 at a monthly subscription of SR25. The new rates will be effective from July 1.

According to the new offer, the Jawwal 25 calls will cost 45 halalas per minute to STC mobiles and 50 halalas outside of the network. The STC is also offering reduced family plans.

All calls made within the network have been reduced from 85 halalas to 65 halalas per minute and out-of-network calls have been reduced to 85 halalas instead of SR1.

The international SMS rate will be 45 halalas with a 25 percent cut from the current 60 halala.

New Sawa recharge cards for SR10 and SR20 will also be available, the press statement said.
