The President of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, Prince Saud Bin Abdullah Bin Thunayan has signed 3 contracts with local companies, the combined cost of which comes to SR 203 million.
One of the contracts is for the preparation of traversing passage for a number of pipes, construction of roads and channels. The contract has been awarded to Abdullah Hamad Al Dossary Est. (P. O. Box 973 Al Khobar 31952, Tel. 864 4347, Fax. 857 9463) for implementation within a period of 22 months. The contract also involves supply of material and construction of an overpass over the concrete pathway in Ras Tannourah to link Jubail-1 area with Jubail-2.
The second contract has been given to Jaffal and Naif Abeed Al Shimry Trading & Contracting Co. (P. O. Box 108 Raheema 31941, Tel. 03/ 667 0526, Fax. 03/ 667 2152), which will undertake development work in Section 2A of Jalmoudah residential district, in addition to developing some public utilities and amusement facilities. The period of implementation allowed is 26 months.
The third contract has been given to Mohammed Meshael Al Qarni Contracting Est. (P. O. Box 1199 Dammam 31431, Tel. 841 5150 / 841 4409, Fax. 842 9645). It involves strengthening and renovation of piping in the services areas of Jubail-2, within a period of 10 months. The contract includes designing work, as well as supply of necessary equipment, material, workforce and specialized technical services for alteration work and installation of replacements of the existing 18 pipes belonging to Saudi Aramco.
It is noteworthy that implementation work on Jubail-2 project is to be carried out in four stages, spread over an area of 5.5 million hectares. The total cost of the project has been estimated to be about SR 14 billion. The area to be developed, in the first stage, will be about 1640 hectares. For the development work in the first stage, 5 contracts have already been signed with local companies and establishments, at a total cost of SR 732 million. A number of contracts are to be signed next year for further development work, amounting to SR 1820 million.
The Jubail-2 project, when completed, will be able to accommodate 23 industrial complexes, with an infusion of investments amounting to SR 130 billion, in addition to the creation of 55,000 direct and about 100,000 indirect jobs for the citizens.
