Saudi Arabia will start pumping gas from the $3 billion Karan field in 2012, Oil Minister Ali Naimi said today.
In Novemeber, a Saudi official said first gas sales would be delivered from the offshore field in 2011. Naimi gave no reason for the delay, Reuters said.
The field will yield domestic gas sales of around 770 million cubic feet per day, Naimi told reporters at a conference.
Reserves at the field were around 9 billion cubic feet, he added.
