DAMMAM, 13 December 2006 -- The Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EPCCI) and the Polish Chamber of Commerce (PCC) signed yesterday a memorandum of understanding to further enhance bilateral trade between Saudi Arabia and Poland.
Abdul Aziz K. Al-Ayaf, secretary general of the EPCCI, affirmed the importance of strengthening commercial and economic relations between the two countries during the signing of the accord with the leader of the Polish delegation Zbigniew Sebastian at Dammam's Moaibed Hotel. The bilateral trade between Poland and Saudi Arabia is expected to cross the $300-million mark this year, an increase of $80 million compared to last year, Polish Ambassador to the Kingdom Adam Kolach said on the occasion.
The agreement is for the collaboration in a wide range of economic activities between the chambers of the two countries. The occasion was also significant as it was the first meeting of the Saudi Polish Business Council.
Kolach said Polish exports to the Kingdom in the past nine months was estimated at between $90 million and $100 million while Saudi exports to Poland stood at $100 million in the same period. On the other hand, the Saudi exports to that country was $120 million against $100 million imports from Poland in 2005.
