RIYADH: Bilateral relations between the Kingdom and the Czech Republic are expected to move forward in view of common interests between the two friendly countries, Czech deputy speaker of the Parliament, Vlasta Parkanová, told visiting Shoura Council members in Prague on Wednesday.
Parkanová was speaking at a reception held in honor of the Shoura delegation headed by Ehsan Abdul Jawad at the Czech Parliament complex in Prague.
The Saudi Ambassador in Prague Abdullah Abdulaziz A. Al-Sheikh was among the distinguished guests present at the function.
"The concept of interfaith dialogue, initiated by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, promotes peace, stability and security in the world," the deputy speaker said, commending that the idea had wide influence around the globe. She added that the world was witnessing formation of such platforms for the restoration of peaceful and harmonious coexistence by varied religious groups.
Speaking about her country, she said that the Czech Republic provided a conducive climate for foreign investment after it got rid of the tentacles of communism. "Now we look forward to more cooperation with the Kingdom for the greater good of the two countries."
Touching on regional issues, she explained that the Czech Republic was one of the countries in the European Union that had been closely monitoring developments in the Palestinian issue, which has remained unresolved for decades.
Responding to the deputy speaker, Abdul Jawad expressed the Kingdom's keenness to develop relations with friendly European countries such as the Czech Republic. He recalled that the agreement signed between the Kingdom and the Czech Republic had helped the two countries to bear fruits in their fight against terror.
The Shoura delegation also met senior officials at the Ministries of Education and Health in Prague. The council members left for Budapest on Wednesday afternoon, where they will hold discussions with Hungarian senior government and Parliament officers.
