ABU DHABI: H.H Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior said coordiantion of efforts by search and rescue teams is of utmost importance for successful bids to save the lives and provide the best humanitarian and relief assistance at times of disasters.
"Search and rescue missions can only be carried out collectively. Their aims are noble as they seek to deliver assistance to all those who need it," Sheikh Saif said in remarks as he attended a 36-hour exercise by participants at The United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) training course in Shalila area in Abu Dhabi. The course which was given in Arabic language for the first time in 2 decades is organized by the United Nations in coordination with the Abu Dhabi Police. The United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) is part of the international emergency response system for sudden-onset emergencies. Assessment, coordination and information management are UNDAC's core mandates in an emergency response missionlater, Sheikh Saif was briefed on the activities at the course, simulators, equipment and skills of the UAE's and Rescue Team which is participating in a joint training camp with teams from Oman and Singapore.
