Abu Dhabi, June 2nd, 2011 (WAM) -- The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a unique architectural monument which reflects the essence of Islamic architecture, said the Arabic-language satellite news channel "Russia Today".
The channel in its report highlighted the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosques special status on the religious, cultural and tourist map of the UAE and the whole Gulf region. "Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a distinct edifice and a milestone for the UAE capital," the Moscow-based channel emphasized. The report detailed the important aspects of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which is one of the worlds largest mosques, such as its capacity to accommodate 40,000 worshipers, its construction materials and the workers who participated in its construction who came from various parts of the world, which culminated in a majestic architectural masterpiece. The report praised the Mosques design with walls and minarets made of the best types of white marble. The Mosque has four 107-metre tall minarets and 82 domes. The report focused on the uniqueness of various architectural methods which were used for the Mosques construction as well as Islamic ornaments painted and carved on its walls. The report stressed the keenness of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre on introducing the monument's milestones to visitors through daily tours. A number of visitors to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque told "Russia Today" about their delight to visit this unique religious edifice. They were impressed by the various designs, especially the flowery ornamentation decorated with precious stones that adorn the walls, pillars and the courtyard of the mosque besides its world's largest carpet. "You feel a peace of mind and tranquility upon entering the Mosque.
