SALALAH -- Dhofar Governorate yesterday saw an influx of tourists pouring on major tourism spots to enjoy the khareef season while the roads leading to these locations experienced unprecedented traffic congestions with some roads totally blocked for more than two hours due to traffic flow from mountains and vehicles coming from neighbouring wilayats and meeting at Darbat intersection.

The situation got worse by trucks belonging to companies working at the area driving down already congested roads. ROP traffic personnel from Taqah and Tiwi police stations managed to ease the traffic flow only after separating large trucks from the main road. Meanwhile, the accommodation crunch has aggravated due to new tourist arrivals despite efforts being made by real estate brokers to provide more flats and villas so as to meet the increasing demand.
