Designed to help prevent knee, foot injuries
Abu Dhabi Health-conscious Abu Dhabi residents need no longer worry about foot and knee injuries caused by jogging on hard surfaces.
The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City opened a specially designed rubberised track for jogging at Al Mushrif yesterday.
The track was designed to prevent foot and knee injuries to joggers.
The 2.4km, Dh3 million track — the longest jogging track in the capital — is located on Khaleej Al Arabi Street (Musaffah Road), stretching from a pocket park near Abu Dhabi National Bank to an Adnoc petrol station. It will primarily serve the residents in Al Mushrif.
However, easy road access to the location and ample parking space are expected to attract residents from all areas.
Improving health
It is part of the municipality’s plan to construct 5,200 metres of jogging track across the city to improve the community’s health, said Abdullah Al Shamsi, acting executive director of the infrastructure and municipal assets sector, who inaugurated the jogging track.
