Abu Dhabi, Sept. 20, 2006 (WAM) -- Justice Minister,Mohammed bin Nakhira Al Dhahiri, today issued a ministerialdecree, setting up a Ramadan moon-sighting committee, whichwill start from Friday work on the sighting of the crescent ofthe Ramadan crescent for the Hijri year 1427.
The Committee, according to the decree, is to be chairedby the justice minister himself, while members include SultanAl Badi, Justice Ministry Under Secretary, Al Siddique Abul Hassan, a Federal High Court judge, Salim Ali Al Hossani, Senior Judicial Inspector at the Justice Ministry, Ahmed Al Za'abi,head of the Abu Dhabi Primary Sharia Court, Ahmed Al Ahdel, aMuslim preacher at the Dubai Department of Islamic Affairs, Khalfan Al Nu'aimi, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Association, Sakhr Saif, chairman of the Amateur AstronomersGroup and Mohammed Odah, Member of the Emirates Astronomy Association.
The committee shall meet on Friday after Maghreb prayersat the Sharia Judiciary Department here in Abu Dhabi. All Shariacourts in the country have been urged to watch out for the moonand to inform the committee about any information related tothe sighting of the moon.
