Laticrete RAK Co - a joint venture between RAK Ceramics and US-based multinational Laticrete International - announced the start of its adhesives and grouts manufacturing operation in Ras Al Khaimah.

The joint venture was inaugurated by Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ras Al Khaimah Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler. Sheikh Saud, who is also chairman of RAK Ceramics, said the inauguration of the venture was only one in a series of successes for the company.

Dr Khater Massaad, chief executive of RAK Ceramics and managing director of Laticrete RAK , said: "The new factory uses state of the art technology and we have invested nearly Dh40 millions."

The production capacity of the new factory is 125,000 tonnes of adhesive materials and ceramic fixing grouts annually.

"Despite the fact that we are adopting conservative forecasts in our expansion plans, we are optimistic in reaching maximum capacity of the new factory soon, because we are ready and prepared for this by using designs that allow us to increase or double the production capacity to meet the forecasted growth in demand" he said.

"We are adopting the highest quality standards throughout the production process as well as introducing our products in the markets at competitive prices" he added.

He stressed that the RAK Ceramics is proud of the new joint venture which joins two well established and pioneering companies in the ceramic industry on a global level.

He added that the RAK Ceramics is one of the largest producers of ceramic tiles in the world, while the US multinational Laticrete, is the worlds largest producer of adhesive substances and ceramic fixing grouts.
