DOHA: Exhibitors at the first of its kind Perfumery Exhibition of Qatar (PEQ) expect to increase awareness of their brands among customers during the four-day event.

The exhibition, showcasing 15 local and international brands, was inaugurated by Muhammed bin Ahmed bin Towar Al Kuwari, vice chairman  of Qatar Chamber, at the Doha Exhibition Centre yesterday.

Perfumes made of natural ingredients like flowers and herbs are a special feature of the event.

The exhibitors hail from several countries and there are manufacturers of different kinds of perfumes. The brands are from countries like France, United States, Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

"We look at this event as an opportunity to create more awareness about our brand among customers. This is the best opportunity for them to choose our products, and if they like they can buy at any outlet in Doha," said Syed Adil Adhan, marketing manager, Swiss Arabian.

A representative at the Beauty Natural stall, showcasing perfumes made from natural ingredients in Qatar, said: "All our products are made of ingredients like flowers and fruits, we seek to create more awareness about such products among people."

The expo has oriental, traditional Arabian and French perfumes. The prices vary between QR60 and QR800, depending on the quality and brand.

Exhibitors say their customers have a mixed taste in perfumes. Elderly customers prefer traditional scents while youngsters go for international brands.
