Doha - The Qatar Sand Treatment Plant (QSTP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company (QIMC), said yesterday that it is investing QR50m to boost the production capacity of washed sand from 18,000 tonnes to 40,000 tonnes per day by August 2007.

The company said in a news release that it has signed an agreement with Romilly of Malaysia, which has extensive experience in project management to supervise the implementation of the project. As per the agreement Romilly will coordinate with Linatex International for the supply of sand washing plant, with Outokumpu of Finland for the water recycling system, and with Diemme of Italy for the filter press.
