Doha: Qatar Petroleum (QP) on Thursday donated QR28,000 to Omar Ibn Al Khatab Education Complex as part of its commitment to training local talent for the oil and gas industry.

Sheikh Abdulaziz Jassim Al Thani, Manager, Human Resources at QP, handed over the cheque to Tariq Abdullah F Al-Abdullah, Principal of the Education Complex at the QP Al Sadd office.

Sheikh Abdulaziz, speaking to the press at the function, said the donation would cover the costs of laptops for science students. It reflects QP's firm conviction to assist the Education Complex in graduating qualified cadres which will have positive impact on QP and its subsidiaries' work.

He said QP has initiated a number of programmes to train and develop secondary school science graduates and this year as many as 618 young Qataris were enlisted to QP's training programme.

QP also sponsors several summer training programmes with emphasis on technical skills and English language to meet the requirements of the country's oil and gas industry requirements.
