DOHA: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has started works to replace the roundabout to a traffic signals intersection on the Al Ali Roundabout (Mall Roundabout) on D Ring Road so as to reduce traffic congestion
The intersection will have three lanes on all directions in addition to side accesses to right sides. As part of the work, some lanes have been closed and new traffic signs have been posted, Asghal said yesterday in a press release.
The modification works will be undertaken in phases in order to avoid disrupting the traffic flow. Thus, at least two lanes are to remain open for traffic while the other lanes will be closed.
Once completed, the new intersection is expected to reduce traffic congestion on the road considerably, Ashghal said, appealing to the public to cooperate and to follow traffic guidelines.
Meanwhile, Ashghal has also called on the contractor who implemented the Mesaimeer street project to undertake re-pavement works between the Halol Street Roundabout and Abu Hamur Roundabout (Al Jazeera Academy).
Following technical inspection and in line with their commitment to apply Qatar's specifications and standards, Asghal and the contractor have realised the need to change the pavements in order to ensure the quality and high standards of the project.
The Mesaimeer street connects Salwa Road (near Qatar Decor) with Al Muntaza Street near Woqod Petrol Station, extending between Halol Street (North-West) and Wholesale Market Street (South-East).
