DOHA: The Qatar International School has released a detailed analysis of the results obtained by its students in the IGCSE, AS and A level examinations.
Among the year 11 students, 76 percent have achieved five or more IGCSE passes at grades A* to C. "Not only does this far exceed the UK average of 65.5 percent, but the IGCSE is widely regarded as a harder and more rigorous course than the GCSE examination taken by most UK-based students", said Lyn Webster, the Deputy Principal.
The top performers were Asma Kalisa, Hani Javaid Mir and Omar Falah, all of whom achieved nine or more passes with A* to A.
In addition, Omar Falah had the honour of receiving a letter from Edexcel International, one of the exam boards used by the school, congratulating him on being the highest scoring candidate worldwide in Edexcel's O Level Classical Arabic.
The A Level results for the year 13 were equally good, with 100 percent results in the A to C range. The top performers were Uthpala Manavi Garusinghe, Umaira Nisa, Yijing Huang and Shehryar Khan.
"Most of these students have now moved on to universities, both in Qatar and around the world, including Weill Cornell, College of North Atlantic, Virginia Commonwealth and Northwestern", Webster said.
The school introduced a new Accelerated Programme last September for high achievers. This year, 10 students achieved outstanding results, with 100 percent results at grades A* to C. The top performers were Anoud Abu Odeh, Joud Abu Odeh and Nour Haswani, who notched up A* in all their subjects.
