DOHA - The first Qatar International College Fair will be opened at Four Seasons on Wednesday. Representatives from over 60 universities, including from the US, UK, Australia and Qatar will be at hand to answer all the queries of the students and parents.
With experts from universities, college entrance examination boards and other educational institutions all under one roof, the exhibition will offer students and parents an opportunity to go beyond the general information found on the university websites and college guides.
The fair will be open to the students and parents on Wednesday and Thursday from 9am to 1pm and from 4pm to 9 pm. In addition to the exhibition of universities and educational institutions, the fair will include presentations about application processes and admission requirements, required tests, student visa and the Supreme Education Council's (SEC) Higher Education Institute's (HEI) scholarship programmes.
The SEC authorities have advised the students and parents visiting the fair to prepare a list of queries before attending the event.
It is better for the students and parents enquire about what kind of student residence is available? What is the life like on campus?, what activities and clubs do they have?, they said.
The opening day will have lectures by the educationists from the US and Australia. There will be presentations on students' visa to Australia, the US and UK.
A total of 22 universities from the UK are participating in the fair. They include Brunel University, Cardiff University, City University London, Durham University, Heriot-Watt University, Imperial College London, New Castle University, Oxford Brookes University, Queen Mary University London, Swansea University and University of Bradford.
The US pavilion includes Brandeis University, Pennsylvania State University and University of Arizona. This is in addition to nine American universities in Qatar.
A total of 14 universities from Australia are participating in the event. They include Australian National University, Curtin University of Technology, Flinders University, Lab Trobe University, Macquarie University, Monash University, Murdoch University at Western Australia, Queensland University of Technology, University of New South Wales, University of South Australia, University of Sydney, University of Tasmania and University of Technology, Sydney. British Council, and EducationUSA Advising Center will also have their pavilions at the fair.
