DOHA - Hundreds of men and women thronged the Ideal Indian School's flash lit ground where the annual fund raising bonanza, Ideal Fiesta 2007 was declared open jointly by the Executive Director, Public Relations, QTel, Adel Al Mutawa and the Executive Manager, Wholesale Banking, Doha Bank, CK Krishnan.
Adel al Mutawa and Krishnan released colourful balloons to mark the inauguration. Both of them commended the role of the school in promoting value education among the expatriate community of Qatar.
Speaking on the occasion Adel reiterated QTel's commitment towards the Indian community in Qatar as he found them peace-loving and cooperative.
Krishnan also spoke of Doha Bank's role in serving the people of Qatar in every way possible.
The President of the School, Hassan Kunhi thanked the guests and the public for their august presence. This year, apart from the regular features of songs, dances, games, food and joy rides, a total of 600gms of gold is offered as prizes against lucky draws. Other prizes include electronic items and air tickets.
The two day long Ideal fiesta is a much sought after event on the school calendar. It raises funds for the infrastructural development of the institution which is run on non-commercial basis.
At present the school is run from a rented complex at Salwa Road. Thanks to the State of Qatar, the school is in possession of a piece of land in Abu Hamour. The construction on the proposed site will commence very soon. Proceedings of this years fiesta are expected to go towards this end.
Among those present on the occasion were the Members of the school managing committee led by Hassan Kunhi, the President, principals of various expatriate schools, founder members, and other personalities from the expatriate community.
