DOHA - The permanent biometric data collection centre of the Ministry of Interior for issuing Qatari Smart ID Card for nationals opened at the City Centre in Doha recently.
Col Abdullah Saad Al Buainain, Director of nationality and travel documents department, said: "The initiative comes under the strategy of Ministry of Interior for expanding its services and delivering it at the nearest place of applicants as they can get the MoI's services easily without approaching the department's headquarter."
The centre is located on the second floor and will be open from 3.00pm to 8.00pm. The department will soon open biometric data collection centres at Villagio, Landmark and other malls. The mobile biometric data collection team has been active at Kahramaa headquarters since last week.
Regarding renewal, passport and ID card issuance, Col Al Buainain said: "In the summer vacation season, the department will receive hundreds of applications. To complete the procedures on time, we will be intensifying our efforts by working in two shifts," he said.
Col Abdullah Al Buainain urged the citizens to confirm validity of their passports and ID Cards.
The biometric data collection centers for Qatari smart ID card for nationals have already been functioning at branch offices of the department at Musaimeer, Al Ruwais, Al Khor and Al Wakrah emigration offices.
